The new head of Gresham’s School at Holt is to be Douglas Robb (pictured), the current head of Oswestry School in Shropshire.
Mr Robb, who starts in September, was previously housemaster and teacher of economics and politics at Oundle School.
Originally from the Wirral, he was head chorister at Birkenhead School and gained a politics MA at Edinburgh and an MEd at Homerton College, Cambridge, before spending the earlier part of his teaching career in Zimbabwe and Scotland.
Mr Robb’s outside interests include travel and sport, particularly shooting, skiing, golf and all team and racquet sports.
As a student he played rugby union semi-professionally. He and wife of 16 years Lucinda have three children, Miranda (12), Hector (nine) and Fergus (six).
Mr Robb said it was “a great honour” to lead a “super school” with tremendous potential.
Governors chairman Andrew Martin Smith said Mr Robb had the drive and experience to oversee the school’s future development.
