A school has held a special event to mark the dedication and hard work of a long serving governor.

St Nicholas Priory School in Great Yarmouth held a special celebration assembly last Friday for school governor James Wright to thank him for 10 years of loyal service to the school.

Mr Wright first joined the governing body in May 2007 and he went on to become chairman of governors for a number of years. At the special assembly headteacher Maria Grimmer presented Mr Wright, who is now vice chairman of the governors, with a plaque on behalf of staff, pupils and governors to recognise his achievement.

She also thanked him for his unfailing dedication and commitment to the school.

Mr Wright is also a Norwich City Liberal Democrats councillor for Eaton and has worked in IT for 20 years.

He said: “It has been a real privilege to serve as a governor at Priory for just over 10 years, working two excellent headteachers in Mark Adams and now Maria Grimmer.

“During the last decade, the school has seen many changes that have seen it transition into the forward looking Primary school that it is today. I look forward to supporting the school and the children who attend here for many years to come.”

The school has 16 governors and associate governors and its last Ofsted inspection rated it as good.
