GCSE results:Diss High School celebrates a rise in grades

Diss High School achieved a great set of results with A*-C grades up 8pc on last year.

77pc of students achieved five A*-C grades overall with 68pc achieving five A*- C including Maths and English. Overall 43pc of GCSE grades were A*- B for the school

Headteacher Dr Jan Hunt said: “We are thrilled and delighted with these results. This is the reward of very hard work by staff and students.

“We’re very pleased; it is an improvement on last year”

Nick Widdeson, Head of Year 11, added: “This year 11 was expected to do well and they delivered. We had very good and pleasing maths and English results. They have done us proud and worked hard.”

Jack Rodwell was one of the top performing boys at the school received 11 A*-A grades. He said: “I am so pleased, I can’t believe it. I’m in shock. I’m going to be attending Diss sixth form and then I want to go to university.”

The top performers of the years were Sarah Hunt and Emilia Patterson who both achieved 14 A*-A grades. Sarah Hunt said of her incredible results: “It feels amazing. There was a lot of tension and a long wait for the results. I am so surprised; I did not expect this at all. It was hours of studying.” The student will now attend Diss High sixth form to study biology, geography, English and history.

Alex Oslavio achieved five A grades, four Bs, and one C despite missing a term and a half due to illness and had to complete school work at home.

“I wasn’t very well and had a long time off. I am so pleased with my results and very proud.”

Chloe Ludkin gained 11 A*-A grades and will study at Diss sixth form in September as she prepares to study medicine at university.

“I am extremely proud and I can’t believe it. I wasn’t expecting to pass couple of subjects and wasn’t expecting to do terribly.”
