Changes to GCSE results means that English literature, language and maths will be graded on a numbered scale from one to nine, rather than the traditional A* to Gs. While they don’t cross over exactly, a nine or eight is roughly equivalent to an A*, with a four a C, a good pass, and a five a B/C, a strong pass.
