Fakenham students secure places at Cambridge University

Fakenham College students Olivia Symington and Rose Blackmur have secured places at Cambridge University.

Olivia, from Harpley, achieved an A* in English literature and As in classics and maths and will study Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic studies at Cambridge.

Rose, from Mileham, achieved A* grades in maths, physics and English literature and an A in further maths and will go on to study natural sciences.

Olivia, who has also secured a choral scholarship at Cambridge said: “I’ve had a great time at Fakenham College and Fakenham High School before that they have supported me so much. The college does a great job of supporting students at all levels.”

Rose said: “We are good friends and we are really pleased for each other and I’m also very grateful for the support I’ve had from Fakenham College and really excited about getting into Cambridge; I’ve wanted this for a long time.”

Also amongst the highest performers at Fakenham College was Conor Bacon, 18, who achieved A* grades in his A-levels in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry. He will study theoretical physics at Edinburgh University.
