Circus Ferrel set up their big top on the school field at Smithdon High School on Monday and have been teaching youngsters a variety of tricks.

Students from primary, junior and infant schools in Dersingham, Heacham, Hunstanton, and Docking will have all taken part in the lessons when they finish on Thursday.

During the workshops, the children were taught spinning poi, spinning plates, Diablo and scarf juggling.

Marty Ferrel, founder of Circus Ferrel, said: “It’s just amazing to see the kids take to something they have never tried before and quickly become good at it.

“We’ve had a fantastic time here and the kids have really seemed to enjoy the workshops.”

Smithdon headteacher Jon Goodchild was delighted to welcome the circus to the school.

“As soon as the big top was assembled on the school field it generated interest and excitement,” he said.

“I am grateful to Mr Edmonds, our deputy headteacher, for organising this unusual event, which underlines the strength of our cluster and the school’s desire to bring interesting activities into our curriculum.”

Circus Ferrel will be putting on shows at the high school on Thursday and Friday evening from 6.30pm, on Saturday at 2pm and 5pm and on Sunday at 2pm.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and children or £20 for a group of five and £25 for a group of eight and can be purchased in advance from any other the schools which took part in the workshops.
