Students at a north Norfolk school are set for a change of uniform next school term.

The Cromer Academy pupils will be wearing a new style of uniform from September in line with the former high school's change to academy status, which was granted last year.

The new academy-branded uniform consists of a charcoal grey blazer and trousers or skirt, a navy blue jumper, a clip-on tie for boys and a blouse for girls. There is also a new PE kit of navy polo shirt, navy long sleeved top and navy jogging bottoms.

Head Penny Bignell, said consultations held with everyone at the academy and parents had revealed the want of a change of uniform.

She said: 'The big concern by parents and staff was finances. We took that on board and have used some of the academy conversion money to give everyone a 30 voucher towards the cost of the new uniform.' She said they had also shopped around to make sure they had the best value for money from their supplier.

She added: 'The uniform will give students pride in what they are wearing and in the academy.'

A new 'smart' dress code for staff has also been introduced.

Student Issy Cox, 14, said: 'I think the new uniform is a lot smarter and it makes the school look a lot smarter than it did.'
