A north Norfolk school has been collaborating with the company behind the Norfolk Vanguard off-shore wind farm project,
Colby Primary School, near Aylsham, and Vattenfall have been working on developing educational packages that could be used by children learning about environmental issues and renewable energy at other schools across Norfolk.
When Sue Falch-Lovesey, the local liaison officer for Vattenfall, visited the school pupils built and tested wind turbine kits, electrical circuits and motors, and were taken on a 3D virtual reality tour of an offshore wind farm.
Headteacher Christine Mead said: 'Our collaboration with Vattenfall has brought a wide range of opportunities to the children and provided them with unique insights into the future of renewable energy. Looking to the future, we plan to use these opportunities as a springboard for hosting further environmental events at school, geared towards involving other primary schools in the important eco work we do at Colby.'
