The pupils at Homefield Church of England Primary School in Bradwell decorated pebbles and asked parents to donate towards an appeal by Julie Staff, who wants to raise £2,800 to adorn the biggest tree in St George’s Park with lights and whose grandson Chance had attended the school.

She said: It’s nice to think children are getting involved in doing something towards the Let’s Light up a Tree appeal.” Some of the decorated pebbles will be used in a display at the Great Yarmouth Minster Christmas tree festival, which starts on Friday.

Mrs Staff has been in discussions with Great Yarmouth Borough Council about her campaign to light up the tree.
