AD Miller will appear at the University of East Anglia at 6.30pm on November 12 to talk about Snowdrops, which was shortlisted for the award in 2011.

Thousands of students and staff have received a copy of the book over the last month as part of the university’s collaboration with the Booker Prize Foundation.

The novel focuses on an expatriate British lawyer, who becomes both professionally and personally immersed in the Russian criminal underworld.

Prof Edward Acton, the UEA’s Vice-Chancellor, said the initiative could set the tone for students’ time at the UEA, encouraging a love of contemporary fiction and creating “an instant common ground”.

The UEA’s creative writing programme received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize this, and Norwich was named a UNESCO City of Literature.
