He may only be 11 but Eaton musician Adam Possener certainly puts on a great concert.

For young musicians wowed their audience during a special show created by the schoolboy musical director at the weekend. From a drum solo to renditions of works by Handel, Faur, Grieg and Haydn to songs from the musical Les Miserables, the eclectic mix of music performed by the talented youngsters aged nine to 19 proved a hit with the audience watching the Young Musicians' Charity Concert at St Andrew's Church, in Eaton, on Saturday.

Adam, from Church Lane, Eaton, who organised the whole show himself, said: 'It was a really amazing experience. It was really exciting and not as scary as I thought. The other performers were amazing and I am really pleased that I picked them.'

The Town Close House Preparatory School pupil, who during the show said he wanted to encourage people of all ages to enjoy music, added: 'My favourite moment was the finale when everybody was up there performing Fever – it was brilliant.'

He said he was delighted by how many people came to see the show, which was his musical director debut, and he said he was looking forward to putting on more concerts.

His proud mum Jacqui Hanlon said: 'It was so emotional watching the concert. I just did not realise there are so many talented young musicians. They put the show together all by themselves and that is what makes it so special.'

The young musicians who performed in the show as well as Adam were Will Arundell, 19, Billie Bell, 15, Eleanor Baxter, 11, Murray Chapman, 12, Lottie Gibson, 11, Eleanor Lewis Williams, 11, Bethany Norgrove, 16, Daniel Possener, nine, Rebecca Possener, 13, Oli Spackman, 13, and Annie Warman, 15. During the finale they were also joined on stage by six younger children.

The concert raised 733 and this will be shared between Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Norfolk County Intermediate Youth Orchestra, which Adam joined in September as a viola player.

Adam started playing the piano when he was five and also plays the violin. Last year he performed in London with his musical hero Lang Lang – a young Chinese pianist who has performed all over the world including at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace.
