After a week of heavy showers, albeit gratefully received as drought threatened, it’s time to enjoy some fun in the sun as warm air comes in from the continent and bathes the east in glorious temperatures topping 80F, 27C.

“We are in for a very nice weekend as the warm air comes across from the south and west,” said a spokesman for Norwich-based forecast and analysis company Weatherquest.

Tomorrow could get off to a bit of a showery start, but the sun will shine and temperatures should rise to a very summery 74F (23C).

The summer feeling should start building from there, and Sunday should be a scorcher right across the region with the mercury topping 80F.

“It should be nice and warm. The average temperature for this time of year is around 18F, so we are well above it. It is only the early summer yet,” said a Weatherquest spokesman.

Eastern regions look to be about to enjoy the best of the weather as the summer sunshine comes in from Europe. It may be short and sweet though, as Tuesday could see showers retuning while the rest of the week appears fairly settled, but cooler.

Event organisers, including Hunstanton Carnival, the start of Festival Too in King’s Lynn and Armed Forces Day in Lowestoft, will be delighted with the prospect of dry, sunny weather.

  • When I was a Careers Adviser, we used to tell people who were interested in becoming weather forecasters that they had to be OK with the prospect of frequently getting things wrong. I rest my case!
