Organisers of a charity cycling and walking event which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year are hoping their new video will inspire more people to take part.

Ride for Life, the biggest fundraising event hosted by East Anglia's Children's Hospices (Each), is set to return to Thetford Forest on May 19.

The event will see hundreds of cyclists and walkers at Santon Downham raising money to provide care and support to life-threatened children and their families.

A video has been produced to give people a sense of the event and attract more particpants.

Laura Shearing, Each Norfolk fundraiser, said: 'We're really excited about the new Ride for Life video as this is the first time we've done anything like this to promote the event.

'Sometimes it's difficult to show how great Ride for Life is through photos and text, but this video really brings it to life and captures the essence of what it's all about; having fun in a beautiful location to support a vital local charity.

'It's the 20th anniversary of Ride for Life this year, and we really want to make this a special event to remember.

'We have many participants who return year after year, which is testament to just how great it is, but we're hoping this video will inspire new participants to sign up.'

Over the past 19 years, Ride for Life has raised more than £775,000 – and in its 20th year, it is hoped that £50,000 will be raised to pay for two nurses for a year to help with the charity's ever-increasing demand.

Rachel Wright, Each marketing and communications co-ordinator, said: 'The video is a great way to share the experience of Ride for Life. We hope that our supporters will share it with their friends and family on Facebook and Twitter and encourage lots of new people to sign up.'

Ride for Life, which is organised in partnership with Cycling Club Breckland and the Foresty Commission, offers participants a choice of a three or nine-mile forest walk, a 10 or 25-mile off-road cycle ride or a 19 or 35-mile road cycle ride.
