Storytelling and boat rides in a fantasy woodland were the treats on offer as part of a specially-organised event for a children's charity.

Children who have been helped or cared for by EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospices), and their siblings, were given the chance to enjoy a day at the 50-acre Bewilderwood adventure park in Hoveton yesterday.

The event, which involved around 90 children and young adults, was organised by property consultant company Bidwells, whose chosen charity of the year is EACH.

Gary Cook, EACH Norfolk fundraiser, said: 'We're absolutely delighted to have such dedicated support from Bidwells and Bewilderwood, and we'd like to thank them all for such a magical day.

'It was a day full of laughter and adventure, but most importantly it was a day for creating precious memories.'

The day marked part of Bidwells' 175th anniversary celebrations and included a storytelling session by the park's creator, Tom Blofeld.

The children from EACH were also able to engage with the Norfolk landscape, boarding a boat, braving bridges, exploring the treehouses and trying out the slippery slopes.

Bewilderwood opened in 2007 and is based on characters and events in books for children written by Mr Blofeld. He said: 'Mildred the Crocklebog [one of the characters] loves children and it was therefore our absolute pleasure to welcome such deserving young people and their families to our woods.'

James Brooke, partner at Bidwells, added: 'We wanted to create a day for the children and their siblings, a day to remember, that would go some way in taking their minds off their ongoing battles with illness. The storytelling is a big part of the day as this is something that really captures the children's imagination.'
