Drivers are ignoring NDR diversions signs - so Horsford villagers have made their own

Frustrated Horsford residents have added their own diversion sign to the junction of Church Street and Holt Road as confused motorists repeatedly ignore the official route.
The Holt Road has been closed since August 9 south of Horsford to make way for the Norwich Northern Distributor Road dual carriageway and to allow construction of slip roads serving the major junction with the A140 Cromer Road.
It is expected to take up to three months to complete the junction.
All Holt Road traffic, including cyclists, are being diverted via New Drayton Lane and Reepham Road to join the A140 Cromer Road at the Boundary Junction.
The closure and diversion is piling pressure onto the surrounding network, including Church Street, Horsford.
Drivers attempting to exit Church Street and rejoin Holt Road are expected to turn left and loop around the New Drayton Lane roundabout back toward Horsford.
But motorists have not yet got the message, instead causing tailbacks after queuing to take the right turn.
This morning a sign appeared at the junction urging drivers to “Bloody well turn left”.
A local authority spokesperson said: “Norfolk County Council and Balfour Beatty apologise for the unavoidable disruption to normal travel.”
