The dog-walkers, who were not from the area, called the Great Yarmouth coastguard after fearing they had been trapped by the tide on the beach at Titchwell.

With darkness rolling in the two women and their dog were picked up and handed over to the waiting coastguard. They were unharmed during the incident.

An RNLI spokesperson said: “We advise people who come to the area to check the tides and wear adequate clothing.”
