Does your dog want to star in Lowestoft opera?

Has your dog got the potential to be an opera star on the stage of Lowestoft’s Marina Theatre?
That is the question being asked by the director and producer of La Boheme which is being performed by the Chisinau National Opera, National Philharmonic Orchestra and international soloists on Friday, May 2.
However there is still one part to be cast for Puccini’s opera - the role of Muzetta’s pet dog.
Dog owners in Waveney are being asked to send in a picture of their pet to see if director and producer Ellen Kent thinks it will be suitable for the part.
She said: “People say never work with children or animals but I love to do both. The first time was 20 years ago when my pet cat Holly Go-Lightly was in one of my productions and was an instant hit.
“Since then we’ve had horses, goldfish and even a golden eagle with a 6ft wingspan on stage.
“Many years ago when we last did La Boheme and asked local people to volunteer their pets it was a huge success.
“We’re a nation of animal lovers after all. I’m sure there is plenty of doggie talent out there.”
Dog owners will need to be prepared to go onstage in costume to look after their pet.
