Back in the 1970s, the town had its own cattle market.

Cattle, sheep and pigs came under the hammer in what was once a typical scene in what is part of the Hardwick retail park.

Farmers stood around the auction ring where the animals were paraded to see how much they made.

Market day was also a social occasion, a good excuse for an outing to town for those living out in the West Norfolk countryside.

Presumably the painter had to redo his handiwork when the gaffe was spotted.

The market is another side of Lynn that's now long gone in all of the massive development the town has seen over the last few decades.
