The Diss Waveney Rotary Club has been helping to make Diss a greener place by planting trees in the town.

The club is determined to meet a worldwide Rotary goal where each member tries to plant at least one tree each to improve the environment by Earth Day on April 22, 2018.

The club received 30 saplings from the Woodland Trust, the UK's largest conservation charity and, on Sunday, November 26, Rotarians planted a range of species in an area at the eastern end of Fair Green in Diss.

Diss Waveney Rotary president, Janet Turner said: 'This challenge is a lovely way to involve communities by extending and under-planting existing woods or enhancing parks and open spaces.'

It is estimated that if all Rotary members in Great Britain and Ireland plant tress, more than 47,000 will be planted.
