A smartphone app designed to help visitors get more from their visit to the city has clocked up 1,500 downloads in its first week.

The free Discover Norwich app for iPhone and Android was launched last week by the Norwich Business Improvement District (BID), and has interactive maps, business directories and what's on guides.

Norwich BID executive director Stefan Gurney said: 'We are really pleased with how well received Discover Norwich has been. It is easy to use and holds a wealth of information that is useful to both visitors and locals.'

The app was launched with a Blues Brothers-inspired dance flashmob in Gentleman's Walk last week, led by Mr Gurney.
