A Royal British Legion branch is set to celebrate its 90th anniversary with a host of events in 2013.
The Dickleburgh branch of the legion was formed on January 25 1923 and was the first to be established in the south Norfolk area.
The group, which has 60 members, will be celebrating its birthday with a carvery dinner at the Park Hotel in Diss on January 25. A number of other events will be held throughout the year, including a concert in the Diss Corn Hall in April, a fete at Dickleburgh playing fields in May, and a sponsored target bowls tournament in August.
The first president of the Dickleburgh Royal British Legion branch was Sir John Mann, who also became president of the Diss branch in the 1930s.
Following the formation of the Dickleburgh group, branches were established in Diss, Long Stratton, the Pulhams, Harleston, Tibenham and Scole. The legion was granted royal assent in 1971.
