Police are treating a blaze at a derelict outbuilding in St Johns Road, Kirkley as arson.
Fire-fighters from Lowestoft North and one crew from Lowestoft South were called out at about 3.15am this morning (Friday) following reports of a suspected house fire.
On arrival the crews discovered the blaze was in a 5m by 5m outbuilding, rather than a house, and police were contacted a short time later by the fire brigade as it’s thought entry had been gained to the building before the fire started.
The blaze is believed to have started about 3am to 3.15am and a police spokesman said: “The incident is currently being treated as arson and we are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area in the early hours, or anyone with information about who started the fire, to call the Lowestoft South Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.”
A brigade spokesman said that the blaze was under control by 3.49am, and the fire is “believed to have been started deliberately.”
