Sugarcane opened in January 2010, but will shut its doors for the last time this Friday, February 22.

Owner and manager Sandra Eglington said: “People just are not spending the money any more. The first year was really good and we have tried and tried, but it’s just not working any more.”

However, she will continue to run children’s parties and a sweet cart for weddings and fairs.

The news came as Youngesters World, also on the High Street, told customers it will close on Saturday February 23.
