They've walked up the aisle together – and now they will take to the streets of London to run the marathon together.

Becky and Matt Henman from Dereham were given just 10 weeks to train for one of the biggest races around.

After missing out on the ballot six months ago, the couple were offered a last-minute chance to run the gruelling 26.2-mile event next month for the children's cancer charity Clic Sargent.

And although they are fit already – Mrs Henman runs Centre Stage dance school and Mr Henman is Dereham Football Club's first team manager – they are still nervous about completing the epic race.

'It's something we always wanted to do and I've always worked with children so raising funds for Clic Sargent sounded like the perfect thing to do,' 34-year-old Mrs Henman said.

'We're not particularly unfit people, I teach a lot of dance and fitness and Matt comes from a big football background, but we need to get miles into our legs, so the people of Dereham will see the pair of us running around the town.

'It's going to be a challenge but we are both really excited about it.

'I think it will be a great life achievement and it will be wonderful to do it for charity.'

The pair plan to pass the finish line together – but admitted they were both really competitive.

Mr Henman, 42, who also teaches at Easton College, joked he would be carrying his wife on his back over the finish line.

And he said he can't believe he will be racing alongside the likes of Mo Farah.

'I've never even seen a marathon.

'But everyone we have spoken to says it's the most amazing and magical feeling, and we got inspired by it.

'We are doing it for the sense of having achieved it and raising money for charity.

'I would have found it more difficult if I was doing it on my own.'

In preparation the couple have been training three times a week as well as running fundraisers and asking for sponsorship to reach their £1,800 target each.

Mrs Henman is planning a Zumba-thon this Friday to help raise money, while her husband has been shown great support from football club.
