Fans of Doctor Who can meet one of the programme’s most popular characters at a shop in Lowestoft dedicated to the long running BBC science fiction show.

Sophie Aldred, who played the Doctor’s companion Ace, will be materialising at the Dawn of Time coffee and comic shop in the High Street from noon on Saturday.

Ace was companion to the seventh Doctor, who was played by Sylvester McCoy, and she proved a match for daleks and cybermen with her baseball bat and homemade explosives.

Sophie has also starred in Corners, Melvin and Maureen’s Music-a-grams and Words and Pictures.

Also appearing at Saturday’s signing session will be Andrew Cartmel, who was a script editor on Doctor Who during Sylvester McCoy’s time. He has also written several Doctor who novels.

The signing session is the first of as series of regular of Doctor Who-themed events lined up at Dawn of Time with Davros actor Terry Molloy due to appear on Saturday, February 8.

The shop opened in November.

Its owner is Jim Poole, whose daughter Bea also works there and dresses up as Ace in the shop.
