Like its old owner a car has done the business in added time when it sold days after failing to go at auction.
The Mercedes was bought by David Beckham the same year he sent England to the world cup with that late free kick against Greece.
No one met the reserve at a King’s Lynn auction on Saturday but a buyer offered £6,500 this week.
Anglia Car Auction’s Rob George said: “Beckham’s Mercedes was sixth from last out of 180 cars and the bidder just couldn’t stay as he was going away. He contacted us as he liked the car and celebrity link and the deal was made.”
