A brave lifeboat woman is swapping the high seas for a high flying stunt when she takes part in a fundraising skydive.

Denise Kilpatrick, a crew member with Gorleston and Great Yarmouth Lifeboat, is leaping out of a plane tomorrow to raise money for the RNLI, and has already smashed her target of £1,000.

The mum-of-three from Church Road, Gorleston, will be joined on her leap of faith by friend Sarah Churchman, whose husband Alan is a fellow crewman on the lifeboat.

The daring duo put their name down for the jump as part of the RNLI’s attempt to break the world record for the most tandem skydives in one day.

Denise and Sarah will be among hundreds of supporters leaping from planes tomorrow to raise money for the charity, and are set to complete their jump at Beccles airfield.

Denise, 48, said: “We took the plunge to say we could do it and raise money for the RNLI at the same time - all over a glass of wine of course.

“I’m very excited. The thought turns your stomach over a bit but once we’re up there I just know we’re going to love it.

“The way everyone’s been supporting us has been absolutely fantastic.”

The grandmother-of-four, who completed a static line jump for charity 20 years ago, added that
she was “ecstatic” to beat her fundraising target and donations were still rolling in.
