Fans of YouTube sensation Jim Chapman met their idol at a book signing in Norwich city centre.

The 29-year-old lifestyle vlogger, blogger and model, who grew up near Attleborough and studied at the University of East Anglia, appeared at Jarrold department store on Sunday, October 1.

A long queue of young fans formed around the store, despite the wet weather.

Mr Chapman, married to YouTube sensation Tanya Burr, vlogs on multiple channels about fashion and popular culture to more than five million people.

Sophie Langdale, 11, from Carlton Colville, said: 'I'm a massive fan. It is exciting that he is coming to Norwich as he is local.'

Her sister, Hollie Langdale, 15, said: 'He is a really nice person.'

Another avid watcher of Mr Chapman in the crowd was Gayna Clark, 20, from Bungay, who works in a chocolate shop.

She said: 'Jim is a legend. He is amazing. I have been watching his videos since they started.

'He is funny and really nice. He has a calming voice. Not many people like him come back to their home town.'

She added that YouTube stars were popular with her generation because they were more interactive with their fans.

Megan Aldridge, 12, from Drayton, said: 'I like Jim's videos because he is funny. It is good he has come to Norwich.'

Her mother, Zena Aldridge, 45, a dementia specialist admiral nurse, said: 'Megan has been incredibly excited about meeting Jim. He is very grounded and doesn't take himself seriously.'

The psychology graduate created his first YouTube channel in 2010 and has more than two million Twitter followers, 2.3 million Instagram followers and almost one million fans on his Facebook page.

His audience ranges from young teenagers to people in their 20s because of the variety of topics he talks about.

The book 147 Things, which he was signing copies of on Sunday has been described as a 'whistle-stop tour of the best bits of everything' and is designed as a user's guide to the world.

Kelly Holmes, 14, from Clover Road in Sprowston, said: 'Jim is really funny and entertaining. It was weird not seeing him on the screen.'

Jess Duffy, publicist for Pan Macmillan which published 147 Things, said Mr Chapman had enjoyed meeting his fans.
