The remembrance event for Henry Blogg was held at a Cromer memorial, dedicated to the talented rescuer who lived in the town and died on June 13 1954.

During yesterday’s short ceremony on the 60th anniversary of his death, members of the Henry Blogg Museum led by its curator Jacqui Palmer joined with the chairman of Cromer RNLI, Tony Webster to lay a wreath.

The memorial, a profile of Mr Blogg, is next to North Lodge and faces the North Sea.

He was awarded the George Cross, the British Empire Medal and the RNLI Gold Medal for conspicuous bravery three times. He also received the RNLI silver medal four times.

During his 53 years RNLI service he was involved in rescuing 873 lives with the help of his crew.
