Large quantities of heroin were transported to Norfolk in a major operation organised by a convicted killer from his cell, a court has heard.

Four men were today found guilty of false imprisonment after a man was held in a van before being badly beaten and stripped naked.

A 20 year-old man, who took advantage of a power failure to steal £200 from a pensioner living in a Norwich sheltered housing complex, has been given 50 weeks custody.

Two of the five men accused of involvement in kidnapping a man, in Thetford, have been found guilty of false imprisonment and assault, but the jury is still considering verdicts on other charges the men face.

A house father at a former Norfolk boarding school has been jailed for 12 years this afternoon after he was convicted of “abominable” sexual abuse on a former pupil.

Robert Beales appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, January 22, and was jailed for five years and eight months.

A 73-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman from Lowestoft have both been jailed for possession of heroin with intent to supply.
