Archant

A thief tried to make off with 15ft lengths of stolen timber - in a Fiat Punto.

Police spotted the hatchback heist in progress at a building site in Shouldham, near Downham Market, in the early hours of today.

As they followed the Punto, timber fell out of the back onto the road.

The driver was collared after he made a run for it near the bowls club.

A man is now helping officers with enquiries at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.
