Michelle Jermy, 40, from Hainford, was driving along the A140 Holt Road home from Tesco at around 11.15am on April 2 when the lorry shed its load.

“It was such a loud noise and it went all over the bonnet and roof and cracked the corner of my windscreen. To be honest it did shake me up,” said Ms Jermy, who was by herself at the time.

As well as a large chip in the windscreen, the six-week-old white VW Scirocco, which is now in the garage, suffered dents in the bodywork, a snapped grill and smashed lights.

Ms Jermy, who works at Age UK, said: “It’s really frustrating – my partner Rob and I have only had the car for six weeks and it was immaculate when we bought it.

”We have been driving on that road every day for years, and you just don’t expect your whole car to be covered in rubble.”

Shocked and blinded by the debris, Ms Jermy didn’t get a chance to see the vehicle that caused the damage – she can only remember that it was quite tall.

“I am annoyed – you save up and work hard to buy yourself a new car and that’s what happens when you are simply going about your day to day life,” she said. “I’m going to be out of pocket until they find who was responsible.”

Another vehicle was damaged by debris along Middleton’s Lane heading towards Drayton high Road at around 11.40am and a third had its windscreen smashed near Hainford as it travelled from Norwich.

The Highways Agency was called to clear rubble both at the roundabout near Anglian Windows and at the junction of Middleton’s Lane and Drayton High Road.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident and urge people to contact 101.
