A 52-YEAR-OLD woman was robbed of her handbag near a popular park as she walked home in Lowestoft.
Police are seeking witnesses in connection with the robbery, which happened about 11pm last night (Tuesday).
The 52-year-old woman was walking home from the town centre, had crossed Park Road and was just past the bus shelter near to the entrance to Belle Vue Park, on Yarmouth Road, when the robber struck.
The victim noticed a man come from within the park to her right. He ran across the road towards her and grabbed her shoulder bag. He then pulled it from her shoulder and fled back towards the park. She then saw a second man in the park crouching down, who appeared to be waiting for the robber. Both then ran away.
A police spokesman said: “The woman made her way back to the police station in Old Nelson Street to report the incident. She was shaken but uninjured. The brown bag contained items including a small amount of cash, cards, a mobile phone and keys.“
The robber is white, in his late teens to early 20s, of slim build and 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing all dark clothing including a snood or similar over his face.
The man he was with was white, of similar age, of slightly stockier build and was also wearing dark clothing including a hat of some kind.
Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area around this time last night who may have seen anyone in the area or anyone with information about the offender to call Det Con 849 Small at Lowestoft CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
