Woman touched inappropriately at Norwich station – British Transport Police seek witnesses

Transport police after appealing for information after a woman was touched inappropriately as she waited for a taxi at Norwich station.

It happened on Tuesday February 18 at about 11.45pm.

Det Con Pete Sowter, the investigating officer, said: “The victim, a 28-year-old woman, was standing at the taxi rank with her husband waiting for a taxi.

“Suddenly, a man approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately. Feeling intimidated by his actions, the woman moved away from the man. A short while later, she noticed him leaving the station.”

Officers have launched an investigation and are set to study CCTV images from the station and surrounding area.

The man was described as between 40 and 50 years old, of stocky build and about 5ft 6in. He had grey stubble and was wearing a dark coloured beanie hat, dark jacket and jeans.

Det Con Sowter believes there would have been witnesses.

“The station is believed to have been busy at the time and there may be someone who witnessed this unnerving harassment. If you witnessed the incident or recognise the man from the description, please come forward and assist officers in the investigation,” he said.
