A woman has been assaulted in an apparently motiveless attack as she walked through a cemetery near the centre of Hunstanton.

Police say the victim, who is aged in her 40s, was walking through the council-owned graveyard on Alexander Road, off the town's Crescent Road, at approximately 9.45pm on Saturday, February 18.

Her unknown attacker hit her hard across the face, which caused her to fall to the ground.

The victim says that she then saw someone walk away but there are no further details of the suspect.

Nothing was stolen from the victim, suggesting robbery may not have been the motive for the as-yet unexplained attack.

But she suffered injuries to her face in the assault, which needed to be treated in hospital.

Anyone who saw the incident of has any information about it should contact PC Susie Crowe, at Fakenham police station, on 101.
