Officers from Acle Roads Policing are appealing for witnesses after a crash on the Acle Straight just after noon today.

A green Peugeot 206, a black/dark grey Ford Focus and a white panel van were travelling towards Acle from Great Yarmouth. Just before they reached Acle, the white van appeared to be in collision with the Peugeot before it and the Focus drove off, failing to stop at the scene. The Peugeot left the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the Peugeot, a man believed to be in his 30s, was left with serious leg injuries and possible internal injuries.

East Anglian Air Ambulance medics, Dr Auden Langhelle and critical care paramedic Ben Caine drove to the scene to help treat the man before taking him to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by East of England Ambulance Service ambulance.

The Acle Straight was closed following the incident and the Norwich-bound carriageway is likely to remain shut until at least 4pm.

PC Gary Prescott, Acle Roads Policing, would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has information concerning it. PC Prescott can be contacted on 101.

A Vauxhall Insignia, Ford Ranger, Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Lupo were involved in the accident. No one is believed to have suffered serious injuries in the crash.

A broken down Citreon Saxo causing a blockage a little way on the Norwich side of the Easton roundabout.

A crash involving two lorries near Necton, at around 9.45am today, left debris on the road which required clearing by emergency services. Again, no one is believed to have been seriously injured.
