The man in his fifties was stabbed on Magdalen Street at around 11pm on December 31 near the flyover.

Police were called shortly before 11pm, initially to reports that a woman had been attacked by St Saviour Church.

They arrived to find the man had been stabbed by the red phone box opposite the RSPCA charity shop on the street.

He had wounds to his face and throat and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with injuries described by police as “serious” but not life-threatening.

A woman was arrested in connection with the stabbing and was being questioned today at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
