Police are awaiting the outcome of a post mortem before deciding what action to take over an “unexplained” death in Hunstanton, it has been revealed.
Officers sealed off a bungalow in the coastal resort after the body of a man was found inside yesterday afternoon.
Forensic officers worked into the night at the Freebridge Community Housing property on Elizabeth Close searching for clues which could explain the man’s death.
Officers have also been seen digging in the garden of the property, which is close to Oasis Way and the Tesco supermarket.
The cul-de-sac, which has a mixture of bungalows and flats, is situated off Waveney Road on the south side of the resort.
Julia Williams, who lives in a flat opposite the property, said: “I saw the police arrive here [in the] afternoon and I thought something must have been up because they were here a long time and then forensics arrived.
“Officers were knocking on the doors in this building to find out if we knew anything about the person who lived there but I didn’t know who he was.
“This is a pretty quiet road so it is a bit of a shock to hear a body has been found in that bungalow.”
Last night a police spokesman said: “Officers from Norfolk Police were called to an address in Elizabeth Close, Hunstanton, following concerns for the welfare of a man at the address.
“Police attended at about 2.15pm and discovered the body of a man inside the address. The death is currently being treated as unexplained and the property has been sealed off by police.”
Freebridge said the man’s death was being investigated by police and there was nothing it could add at present.
A driver had to be rescued from a river in Thetford after the Ford Focus he was travelling in came off the road.
