A man who refused to leave a King’s Lynn flat after making threats was arrested after armed response units and police negotiators moved in the bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion.

The male, aged in his late 40s, was said to be being in a “distressed state” after refusing to leave the property in Poppyfields, West Lynn.

The road was cordoned off in the interests of public safety after police were called at 1pm today but the matter was brought to a peaceful conclusion at around 4.50pm. The man was subsequently arrested.

A spokesman for Norfolk Constabulary said no-one was believed to have been in the property at the time and that there was no threat to the wider community.

“Officers from the Constabulary’s armed response units and police negotiators were in attendance to resolve the situation peacefully and the road was cordoned off in the interests of public safety,” the spokesman added.
