A motorist who drove his car into the garden wall of two Lowestoft homes has pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving without due care and attention.

Alexander Desouza, 31, admitted the offences at Lowestoft Magistrates’ Court this afternoon after the BMW he was driving crashed into the wall in St Peter’s Street on Sunday, July 6.

Desouza, who is from Cavalry Road, Colchester, Essex, also pleaded guilty to damaging a police vehicle on the same day.

He will be sentenced at Colchester Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Lee Blackley 26, and Claire Cliff, 24, live in one of the homes and were out when the collision happened.

The couple said their three-year-old son Archie regularly plays outside and dreaded to think what would have happened if he had been outside when the crash happened.

Miss Cliff, who also has an 11-month old daughter with her fiancé, said: “It could have been worse.”

Miss Cliff’s brother and his partner live in the neighbouring house that shares the same wall. The couple have two children and were at home when the crash happened.

As well as police, paramedics were sent to the crash scene to treat Desouza in the car and a female passenger. Three fire engines were also called out to make the scene safe.
