Police were first made aware of the incident at about 1am yesterday, when they went out to the event to find its organisers and see if it was safe.

The music was turned off just after midday and police had cleared the site by 2.15pm.

Four people were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the organisation of an unlicensed music event and taken in custody at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning. They were today released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Superintendent Malcolm Cooke, who led the police response at the weekend, said: “Unlicensed music events such as these not only cause disruption and distress to local residents but can also result in damage and financial penalties to landowners at the location where they are held.

“The action taken today falls in line with our efforts to reduce serious anti-social behaviour and environmental damage caused by illegal and unlicensed events.”

Three males, aged 17, 22 and 24, from the Yarmouth area and a male, aged 17, from the Norwich area are due to answer bail on May 27.
