Jessica Portor, 7, and Tamzin, 10, were visiting their father Allan over the Christmas break when the Ford Focus they were travelling in swerved off the A47 at Walsoken, near Wisbech, on December 27, 2012.

An inquest into their deaths at King’s Lynn this morning heard that all tyres in the car were under-inflated and unbalanced while one of its front tyres had a slow puncture.

Recording a narrative conclusion, coroner Jacqueline Lake said both girls suffered multiple injuries consistent with a road traffic collision.

She said Jessica, who was sitting in the middle of the back seat, was not wearing a seatbelt.

In tement issued after the crash, the girls’ parents said they had lost their “little angels”.

The car was being driven by Marie Easter, who admitted two counts of causing death by careless driving when she appeared before Norwich Crown Court in January.

Easter, 44, from Terrington, was given a 15 month jail sentence, suspended for two years.

The court heard she loved the girls as if they were her own and their deaths had left her “a broken woman”.

Police said the rear tyres of the Ford Focus had dangerously low treads and uneven pressure, which would have made the car hard to control.

The girls’ father, Allan Portor, suffered broken ribs in the crash. His son, Liam, 12, suffered cuts and bruises.

Easter was also injured in the crash.
