Norfolk police have tonight confirmed that the woman arrested in connection with the unexplained death at a Norwich care home has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Heathcote residential home

The home is registered for 29 residents.

It accepts people on a permanent, temporary, respite, short stay or rehabilitation basis.

It accepts people aged 65 and above.

The manager of the home is Becky Wyer, who was previously the deputy manager and was promoted last year.

The home is registered with the Care Quality Commission - the watchdog for care homes.

Detectives have been investigating the unexplained death of a woman in her 80s at Heathcote residential home on Unthank Road in Norwich last night.

A woman in her 50s from the Hethersett area, who was known to the victim, was arrested in connection with the incident but has been released on police bail this evening pending further inquires.

The investigation is continuing and a Home Office post mortem to ascertain cause of death is due to take place tomorrow morning at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Durham said: “It must be stressed we are at the very early stages of our investigation and are currently conducting preliminary enquiries. There are a number of potential outcomes and we will not be speculating further on the circumstances at this time. Clearly, the results of the post mortem will be a significant factor in this investigation.”

A number of rooms within the property remain sealed off as inquiries continue.

It is understood the other residents have not been moved out of the care home.
