The A47 Norwich southern bypass is blocked with stationary traffic at approaching Postwick because of a crash involving three vehicles.

Police were called to reports of a crash on the A47 Yarmouth bound near Thorpe turn just before 4pm.

Fire crews from Carrow, Sprowston and Earlham were also called to the crash and helped manually release one person from the wreckage.

A spokesman in the police control room at Wymondham said they are still dealing with the crash but added the indications were that no-one had been seriously injured.

He said traffic had been brought to a “stand still” by the crash with vehicles tailed back to the A146.

Recovery vehicles were on their way to the scene but had also been caught up in the queues.

Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing team tweeted about the crash to warn others in the area.

They tweeted: “3 vehicle RTC reported #A47 near Thorpe turn #Yarmouth bound. Police on the way. Approach with caution. #Norwich #NorfolkRoads”.
