Update: Man remanded in custody after woman assaulted and robbed in Lowestoft

A 30-year-old man is due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, January 23 charged with robbery after a 41-year-old woman had her handbag stolen.

The woman had been shopping about 10pm and was outside the Tesco store at Leisure Way on Saturday evening (January 11) when she was assaulted before her handbag was taken.

Christopher Hardman, of Elmore Gardens in Lowestoft, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday, January 12.

He was interviewed by officers before being charged with the robbery and with aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and driving with no insurance.

He was detained in custody and appeared before Lowestoft Magistrates yesterday (Monday) where he was remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on January 23.
