A 38-year-old man was arrested in Essex last night on suspicion of committing an armed robbery at the Cash Inn premises at the back of Market Gates shopping centre in Great Yarmouth the previous day.
A second man, also 38, was arrested over night in Yarmouth on suspicion of assisting an offender. He was taken to Yarmouth police station for questioning.
The man in Essex is being brought back to Norfolk for questioning.
The drama unfolded at about 3.30pm on Thursday when a raider entered the shop and threatened a 64-year-old man with a handgun and a hammer.
The man fled out the front door of the shop towards the taxi rank with a significant amount of cash.
A 64-year-old man who was injured during the incident and taken by ambulance to Gorleston’s James Paget University Hospital has been released after treatment for a head injury.
Anyone with information that might help the inquiry is asked to call Det Sgt Chris Burgess at Yarmouth CID on 101.
