The trial of two women accused of murdering a former Norwich bus conductor in his own home will start tomorrow after the jury was sworn in today.
The body of 67-year-old Barry Reeve, who was known as Titch or Schweppes to his friends, was found by officers who were called to a property on Corton Road, off City Road, Norwich, just before 3pm on Sunday, February 26.
Kelly Louise Barnes, 32, and Jodie Barnes, formerly Ramsbottom, 31, both from Bixley Close in Norwich have denied murdering Mr Reeve on a day between February 8 and February 26 last year.
Today a jury of eight women and four men were sworn in at Norwich Crown Court before being sent home and told to return tomorrow for the start of the trial which was to be opened at 10.30am tomorrow by Karim Khalil QC, prosecuting.
Jude Peter Jacobs told the jury not to discuss the trial, which is expected to last about two weeks, with anyone outside court and warned them not to use the internet to try and find out any information involving the case.
A statement released by Mr Reeve’s family following his death said: “We are devastated by the loss of our father/brother and grandad. He was a loveable gentleman. He loved to fish and play cards and plane spotting. Barry leaves behind a daughter and son and four grandchildren and he will be sadly missed.”
