Three men have been charged over an alleged attack by ‘Oompa-Loompas’ on Prince of Wales Road in Norwich.

A 28-year-old man was assaulted on Thursday December 27 between 3.20am and 3.30am by men he claimed were dressed as the characters from Roald Dahl’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The victim suffered cuts and bruising during the attack.

Matthew Wright, 20, of Decoy Road, Potter Heigham, Matthew Watling, 19, of Lighthouse Close, Happisburgh and Louis Gelinas, 20, of Rectory Road, Sutton, have each been charged with two counts of assault causing actually bodily harm.

Wright also faces further charges of assault occasioning actually bodily harm and racially aggravated assault over an attack on a 21-year-old man in a taxi office on Prince of Wales Road on December 22 last year.

All men have been released on bail with conditions to not enter licensed premises within the inner ring road.
