Carol Baker, who runs Pedlars Gold in the Market Place, said a burglar used a hack saw to cut through a grill over a side window and open a back door last night, and took cash and goods.

She said the shop’s van was also broken into during shop opening hours on Monday afternoon.

She said: “I’m just rather annoyed that we have struggled all day trying to get locks replaces as people are closing down for Christmas. It’s been an absolute nightmare.”

She said the shop, which was voted the best independent card shop in East Anglia in 2009, did not open until 11.30am today because of police investigations. She added that police were studying CCTV images.

Police from King’s Lynn CID are investigating, and anyone who witnessed anything or has any information should contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
