Charity shop donations potentially worth more than £100 were stolen after thieves broke into a pair of sheds overnight.

Clothes, electrical equipment, books and bric-a-brac, among other items, were snatched from the buildings at the back of the Break shop on Aylsham Market Place on Wednesday April 23.

The electrical goods, including a stereo, were not tested and clothes, not suitable to be sold, were due to be recycled for money destined for the charity.

Liz Richards, from Break, said: 'It has taken income away from our services and our services are funded through out shops. It is one of the major sources of income for Break.

'It was a sad day and very difficult for the staff who arrived at work the morning after the burglary.'

She added the crime had a 'huge impact' and the charity would have to look for somewhere else to store donations.

Beat manager for Aylsham Safer Neighbourhood Team, PC Greig Shepherd, said the suspects could have been disturbed after some of the bags of old clothes were found discarded in an alleyway near the shop.

Break was formed in 1968 and provides children's homes as well as supporting young people with learning and physical disabilities.

Anyone with information should contact PC Shepherd at Aylsham police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
